Founder of Picaroon: Jonathan Chuby

Jon is a Canadian filmmaker who specializes in horror and comedy content. He writes, directs, and produces his own projects through his production company, Picaroon Pictures, which he founded in 2015. Some of Jon's notable works include Behind the Reds, which was showcased at the Directors Guild of America in 2015, and his TV show Geoff and the Ninja, which earned him a top 15 spot in ComedyCoup's nationwide competition in 2014, won Telus Storyhive's largest-ever grant in 2017 as well as winning "Best Directing" at the Indy Series Awards 2019 and “Best Comedic Acting” award at the Miami Webfest 2019. Jon also directed The Window, a short horror story by Canadian writer Josh Saltzman, as part of a horror anthology based on Saltzman's book "Strange Yarns." In 2021, Jon completed his own horror anthology feature called "BloodStream" and won The Whistler Film Festival Power Pitch competition for Duck Race, securing him a coveted spot in the producers lab along with some funding.     We first and foremost pride ourselves on creating well-crafted stories that are scalable. We have writing teams that have chemistry and we also believe that ideas come from every individual working on a project. We believe the best result is when many voices come together in a collaborative fashion.

    We have high quality actors. We believe that creating a supportive environment for actors to be comfortable is imperative. We also believe in fostering acting talent that go on to do amazing things.

  • Execution

    We pride ourselves on making it all happen on time and on budget. With a community of talent across all disciplines we are able to put together quality tailored teams per project. We also have the mentality of doing as much prep as possible prior to being on set so we are as efficient as possible.
